This International Standard applies to handpieces and motors used in dentistry, regardless of their construction. It specifies requirements, test methods, manufacturer's information, marking and packaging. This International Standard is applicable to: a) Straight handpieces; b) Angle handpieces; c) High-speed air turbine handpieces; d) Air-motors; e) Electrical motors; f) Prophy angled handpieces. This International Standard is not applicable for: a) Intraoral camera handpieces; b) Powered polymerization handpieces, c) Scaler, air powered; d) Scaler, electrical powered; e) Air-powder polishing handpiece.
