Summary
This standard is applicable to all elastomeric products used for orthodontics both inside and outside the mouth in conjunction with fixed and removable appliances including orthodontic elastics, elastomeric bands, elastomeric chains, links and thread, and ligatures for arch wire fixation or tooth separation. A standard is required to specify physical and mechanical properties that will facilitate product comparison and selection by the user.
