This standard giving guidance shall facilitate strategic planning and implementation of social responsibility in an organization. The standard provides guidance on principles, practices, core subjects and issues of social responsibility, as well as on its implementation. The standard is intended to be useful for all types of organizations, whether private, public or not-for-profit, and operating both in developing or developed parts of the world. With this framework the standard supports organizations in contributing to sustainable development. This standard is not a management system standard. It is not intended or appropriate for certification purposes or regulatory or contractual use. Any offer to certify, or claims to be certified, to ISO 26000 would be a misrepresentation of the intent and purpose of this International Standard.
