The standard lays down the main dimensions for interchangeability and the materials for fork-type heel fittings for ships' derrick booms and accociated bolts or pins.*The following dimensions are standardized: thickness of side pieces of fork, clear width of fork, depth of fork, diameter of clearance hole for bolt or pin, diameter of bolt or pin.*A fork-type heel fitting device forms a component part of a ships' derrick boom. It is fitted to the heel end of the derrick boom. It comprises a double lug fitting and an accociated hinge bolt or pin for the conjunction with the pin of the gooseneck bearing.*This conjuntion allows the derrick boom to be raised, lowered and slewed.
