Guidance for the construction and use of equipment for measurement of the OTF of imaging systems. Specification of important factors that can influence the OTF measurement, and of rules for equipment performance requirements and environmental controls. Specification of important precautions that should be taken to ensure accurate measurements and specification of correction factors to be applied to the collected data. Range of application: restricted to equipment which analyses the radiation distribution in the image plane of the optical imaging system under test; excluded: interferometer-based instruments.
