DIN SPEC 91314:2017-01
Sound insulation in buildings - Requirements for increased sound insulation in dwellings
Summary
This DIN SPEC has been drawn up by a temporary body ('Workshop') in accordance with the PAS procedure. This DIN SPEC has been developed and adopted by the authors named in the Foreword. This DIN SPEC specifies requirements relating to enhanced sound insulation in habitable rooms that require protection, with the aim of achieving the described sound protection target levels. It forms the basis for constructions providing enhanced sound protection in new residential buildings. Where alterations are made in existing residential buildings it shall be examined on a case-to-case basis whether the proposed characteristic values can be used in part or in their entirety. The requirements of DIN SPEC 91314 do not apply with respect to - protection against noise from external sources (e. g. traffic noise or noise from industrial plants or units that are not physically connected to the habitable rooms requiring protection); - protection against aircraft noise, where the sound protection measures are regulated by the Gesetz zum Schutz gegen Fluglärm (Law on Protection against Aircraft Noise); - protection against low-frequency sound according to DIN 45680 (generally, if the difference between LCF (sound pressure level) and LAF (relevant external noise level) is greater than 20 dB); - sound protection in areas used by the inhabitants themselves; - protection against airborne sound in corridors, kitchens, bathrooms, toilet rooms and secondary rooms, where these are not intended to be used for habitation or where they are interconnected by means of ducts; - protection against impact sound and noises from technical building systems in corridors, kitchens, bathrooms, toilet rooms and secondary rooms; - noises caused by things being used (e. g. placing a toothbrush mug on a ledge, opening and closing a toilet lid). Proposals for enhanced sound protection between particularly loud rooms and rooms requiring protection against noise shall be agreed on an individual basis.
