This planned DIN SPEC will specify requirements for the design of a reference architecture for a modular recommendation-based demand side management system consisting of the modules 'Demand side management', 'Energy monitoring', 'Grid connector unit' and 'Control panel / Dashboard'. By focusing on dynamic prices and tariffs, such systems can help relieve power grids. This DIN SPEC is intended for manufacturing companies which do not yet have a load management solution or which would like to expand their existing solution by adding modules that will provide them with additional functionalities. Using an abstraction layer (middleware) will ensure interoperability between the modules and energy measurement within existing systems installed by different manufacturers.
