This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS procedure was developed within a workshop set up on a temporary basis. The document was developed and approved by authors named in the foreword. This document establishes a test procedure for determining the resistance forces when medical cannulas pierce through materials or products. It should be expressly pointed out that the test parameters do not take all possibilities of a needlestick injury into account. Therefore, no absolute protective effect can be derived from a good test result. The following text does not contain any measures for the safety of the person carrying out the test. This document is not suitable for test samples made of scale-like metal and ceramic plates.
