Reference model for characterizing the energy flexibility of industrial enterprises

Summary

This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS procedure was developed within a workshop set up on a temporary basis. The DIN SPEC was developed and approved by authors named in the foreword. This DIN SPEC describes a reference model that systematically shows industrial enterprises the aspects, which need to be considered and examined to identify, evaluate and exploit energy flexibility. The reference model aids the communication of information and knowledge about energy, and also provides assistance in evaluating energy consumption behaviour with regard to energy flexibility, with the aim of laying the groundwork for participation in the smart grid. The evaluation incorporates the relevant control and plan variables used in energy and load management, and also those from production planning and control. This DIN SPEC is aimed at industrial consumers who are interested in participating in the spot and balancing energy markets. This DIN SPEC is also aimed at energy service providers, as industrial enterprises applying DIN SPEC 91366 will be able to implement flexibility options that significantly influence schedules and power flows.
