IEEE Standard for Passive Imaging Radiation Devices (PIRDs) for the Localization and Identification of Radioactive and Nuclear Materials
Summary
New IEEE Standard - Active.
The performance requirements for passive imaging radiation devices (PIRDs) are described in this standard. The requirements stated are based on PIRDs used for the localization and identification of radioactive and nuclear materials.
This standard specifies the performance requirements and test methods for portable passive imaging radiation devices (PIRDs) used to detect, localize, and identify gamma-ray emitting radioactive materials in the form of point or distributed sources. PIRDs may also have the ability to characterize identified ionizing radiation sources as to their physical shape and size.
