SAE FMVSS 131:1995-01-23

This standard established requirements for devices that can be installed on school buses to improve the safety of pedestrians in the vicinity of stopped school buses.

The purpose of this standard is to reduce deaths and injuries by minimizing the likelihood of vehicles passing a stopped school bus and striking pedestrians in the vicinity of the bus.
