Summary
The new edition of EN 50173-1 contains numerous technical and editioral changes, which result a.o. from the new channel classes EA and FA, such as: new component Categories 6A and 7A and relevant parameters, modified insertion loss requirements for coaxial channels and optical fibre Class OF-100 media, definition of optical fibre Category OM4, modified connecting hardware requirements, definition of both a new interface for 2 optical fibres and for 12 and 24 fibres, limits for additional parameters in Annexes A, B and D.2 and revised requirements for testing of connecting hardware according to Annex D.3.
Notes
DIN EN 50173-1 (2010-06) and DIN EN 50173-1 (2007-12) remain valid alongside this standard until 2012-09-01.*A transition period, as set out in DIN EN 50173-1 (2018-10), exists until 2021-03-01.
