Summary

With the amendment A1 the relationship to the EU Construction Products Directive 89/106/EEC is given. The requirements to the performance characteristics and test methods as specified in DIN EN 54-5:2001 are unchanged. The product standard specifies the requirements for sounders which are used in fire detection and fire alarm systems. The requirements for the design and use of sounders according to DIN EN 54-3 for operation of fire detection and fire alarm systems in buildings are specified in the National Standards DIN 14675 and DIN VDE 0833-2 (VDE 0833 Part 2).
