Summary
This standard applies to outboard ladders for inland navigation ladders. Outboard ladders are intended for the use on inland navigation vessels with high ship's sides to enable a save climbing to a work boat, disembarking or crossing over onto vessels with lower decks. This standard lays down main dimensions, design and requirements for outboard ladders. Outboard ladders are intended to be used in cases, where the length of boarding ladders according to DIN EN 1502 is not sufficient; this begins at a boarding height of about 2,30 m above the light water line. Outboard ladders and boarding ladders form part of the equipment on inland navigation vessels having a boarding height greater than 1,50 m above the light water line.
