Summary
This standard applies to outboard ladders for inland navigation vessels. Outboard ladders are intended for the use on inland navigation vessels with high ship sides to enable a safe climbing onto a work boat, disembarking or safe crossing over onto adjacent vessels with lower decks. This standard lays down the main dimensions, design and requirements for outboard ladders. Outboard ladders are intended to be used in such cases where the length of boarding ladders according to DIN EN 1502 is not sufficient; this begins at a boarding height of about 2,80 m above the light water line.
